Gladiator Thraex Helm - 20 Gauge Brass

The Thraex or Thracian was a Roman gladiator, armed in the Thracian style with small rectangular shield called a parmula and a short sword with a slightly curved blade called a sica. Used with the intention of maiming an opponent's unarmoured back. His other armour included armoured greaves, a protector for his sword arm and shoulder, a protective belt above a loin cloth, and a gladiator helmet with a plume, visor and high crest.

Our Gladiator Thraex Helmet is constructed from 20 gauge brass; the interior of the helm is blackened and unlined. Included with the helmet is a padded cotton arming cap.

The two part faceplate is fitted onto the helm with four pins, allowing for the faceplate to be removed if needed. The faceplate itself is a two part design that is secured at its bottom with a swivel key pin. The ocular grill plates can also be removed by removing their pins.
